The main living area spans the width of the house, its scale softened by a series of subtly defined zones and Scandi-inspired design. A wood-burning stove anchors the lounge, while large sliding doors keep the garden and fields in constant view. There’s a natural flexibility to how the space is used – from quieter mornings to a full house gathered in one place.
Set within 200 acres of open countryside on the Ashlar Park Estate, this five-bedroom converted Cotswolds barn to rent is designed with a sociable spirit.
Overview
Along a quiet country lane on the edge of the estate, a reimagined countryside home enjoys a steady connection to its surroundings.
Riven Barn brings a contemporary perspective to the Cotswolds barn conversion. Past a timber-clad exterior, full-height glazing pulls verdant views into everyday life. An expansive living space forms the core: settle by the wood-burning stove, step out onto the terrace or retreat to the cinema room – complete with its own private home bar. Beyond the home, it’s a five-minute stroll to your cosy local pub.
For larger groups, Riven Barn can also be combined with the neighbouring manor house and barn – ten-bedroom Ashlar Park and four-bedroom Ashlar Barn. Depending on requirements, guests have the choice of renting the main house, or the barns separately.

The living spaces
At the centre, a streamlined kitchen comes fully equipped. Smeg appliances and generous work surfaces make it easy to cook for a crowd, while the island provides a centrepiece – somewhere to gather, graze or keep the chef company. The dining area sits alongside, positioned to make the most of the garden outlook. Doors open directly onto the terrace, allowing meals to move easily outside when the weather holds. A separate utility room keeps the practicalities out of sight, a thoughtful addition for longer stays.
Elsewhere, the cinema room offers a more atmospheric setting: darker, enclosed and paired with an adjoining bar.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Five en suite bedrooms are arranged upstairs, each consistent in tone and style. Soft palettes, quality linens and simple detailing create spaces that are easy to settle into.
The principal suite offers more room to spread out, with a dedicated dressing area and larger bathroom. Across the remaining bedrooms, both sleeping quarters and en suites are considered and comfortable.
Outdoor Spaces
The garden extends straight out into open countryside – no visual interruptions. A broad terrace runs along the rear of the house, set up for outdoor dining and long stretches outside. There’s room to spread out – on the lawn, across the table or roaming around the setting. A barbecue, trampoline and open green space keep things informal, whether it’s a family stay or a weekend with friends.
Parking is generous, with space for up to six cars and an EV charging point.
The surroundings
Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, Riven Barns sits surrounded by honey-stone cottages, winding lanes and a historic church. It’s a five-minute walk to the cosy local pub, or 10 minutes away, Bibury enchants with celebrated heritage architecture and tranquil countryside walks.

Its Charter Market, held every Monday and Friday, offers organic produce and artisan delicacies, while the Barn Theatre presents regular performances.
