Cheyne Walk’s riverside location has been coveted for centuries. Home to countless notable figures over the years, from writers T.S. Eliot and Bram Stoker to artist J.M.W. Turner and musicians Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull, its blue plaque-adorned homes are now a backdrop for Cheyne Pier’s prestigious moorings.

Down a gangway and onto the dock, past portholes and colourful facades, Houseboat Iris’ immaculate exterior makes a striking first impression. The front door opens into an open-plan kitchen, dining and reception room – a tranquil setting, courtesy of expansive glazing and a neutral tonal palette.

Comfortable, bright and spacious, the houseboat experience hits new heights here. Wooden floors span the space, leading from the kitchen to the private deck beyond, which provides a constant connection to nature. Soft grey cabinets and subtle marble worktops dress the kitchen, complete with a twin De’Longhi range and eye catching gold hardware. Illuminated by an oversized porthole, a dining table for eight is perfectly placed for easy entertaining. From here the seating area unfolds, with a cosy L-shaped sofa and rattan armchairs taking advantage of the expanse of natural light that fills the room.

Bringing the outside in, sliding doors open from the living space onto a south-east facing terrace where views over the river take centre stage. Outdoor seating and planters make this a welcoming space for morning coffees, al fresco hosting and unique riverside living.

Downstairs, the bedrooms follow a similar considered palette. The principal suite is positioned towards the bow of the boat. Porthole windows cast soft light across the white walls and inviting green furnishings. The same soothing tones continue into the en suite bathroom, where a rainfall shower awash with turquoise subway tiles sits beside a freestanding bathtub on its own elevated platform. An additional bedroom can be found to the rear, with ample storage and an en suite, complete with a marble-clad shower.

The home also enjoys access to a concierge service that is on hand to assist with any issues or deliveries.
