Colour takes centre stage in the kitchen, where a red-orange island anchors the space. Along one wall, bright blue cabinetry integrates contemporary appliances, while a mirrored splashback amplifies light and the sense of space. Underfoot, Bert and May forest green tiles introduce pattern, softening the bold blocks of colour.
Overview
Reimagined by Brooke Copp Barton, this Edwardian home on Stamford Brook Road unfolds across three storeys, where expressive design meets a confident use of colour. Arrival sets the tone: checkerboard tiles underfoot, duck-egg blue walls, a soft stair runner and delicate Lewis & Wood wallpaper guiding you inside. Beyond, the expressive interiors open onto a garden where winding paths and considered planting creating a calm, secluded retreat from the city.
The living spaces
Pattern and palette playfully combine in the formal reception room, where bold textiles and eclectic detailing sit comfortably alongside period features. An Eco Hunter log burner forms a natural focal point, framed by pared-back bookcases, while a generous south-facing bay window fills the room with light, falling across upholstered sofas and armchairs from PINCH London.
Double doors lead through to a more intimate snug, where whitewashed floorboards and deep blue walls create a cosy contrast. Original features remain in place, while French doors extend the room out to the garden during warmer months, blurring the line between indoors and out.
Kitchen & dining
Opposite, the dining area is designed for long, relaxed meals as much as everyday living. Built-in cabinetry in matching blue frames an exposed brick wall and bespoke banquette seating, while a Benchmark table provides a central gathering point. Pale grey-painted floorboards run throughout, offering a subtle counterbalance to the room’s vivid tones. A utility room is discreetly tucked away behind a curved wall of warm-toned panelling.
Bedrooms & bathrooms
Upstairs, the palette softens. Earthier hues and heritage pieces define the sleeping quarters, with large sash windows ensuring plenty of natural light. The principal bedroom, with its south-facing bay, feels particularly bright, while shutters and a period fireplace lend a sense of calm and privacy. Adjacent, a duck-egg blue bathroom continues the home’s measured, tranquil tone.
Two further bedrooms sit on this floor, one with an en suite, while a further bedroom enjoys the privacy of its own space on the second floor.
Outdoor space
Full-width sliding doors from the kitchen open onto a herringbone-laid terrace, sheltered, when needed, by an automatic awning. From here, gravel pathways lead through a north-facing garden, where mature planting and layered greenery create a secluded, considered outdoor setting – well suited to both al fresco entertaining and quiet moments.
The neighbourhood
From the Westway down to the River Thames, this West London patch has a vibrant cultural scene. Natural tranquillity comes in the form of Ravenscourt Park, through which you’ll reach Brackenbury Village’s independent delis and cafes. Stock up on produce at the Shepherd’s Bush street market, which has been in business for over a century. Dine at Sam’s Riverside, The River Cafe or The Dove before a night of culture at the Grade-II listed Eventim Apollo or Lyric Theatre.
